Colma's Lucky Chances Casino wants to add more tables

June 9, 2009

COLMA - Lucky Chances Casino wants to increase its gaming tables from 50 to 60. Last year the card room increased the number of tables from 43 to 50.

Lucky Chances is located in Colma at 1700 Hillside Blvd. and opened in June 1998. It is the largest non-Indian casino in Northern California. Artichoke Joe's Casino in San Bruno remains at 38 table games.

On Wednesday, the Colma City Council will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m.
at Colma Town Hall to discuss the issue of additional tables and will decide whether to amend the casino's permits.

If approved, Lucky Chances could hire at least 50 new employees, according to Rodney Blonien, spokesman for Lucky Chances.

Colma City Manager Laura Allen said the additional 10 tables would bring more card room tax revenue for the community, which is projected to be $5.3 million this year based on existing tables.
