Commerce Casino to open racebook

July 21, 2009

LOS ANGELES - Commerce Casino will launch its new racebook tomorrow with the start of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club meeting. This will be the first state-licensed card casino to offer race track wagering.

The casino's racebook will have eight self-service kiosks to sell and cash tickets and 15 flatscreen televisions to view the races. A pari-mutuel clerk will be available for assistance.

John Griffo of Commerce Casino said "This is an exciting new addition for Commerce Casino. To date, the state has only permitted card games in card rooms such as ours, and with this change in regulation, the Racebook allows us to reach new customers who are racing fans and to expand our offerings to our existing customers."

Commerce Casino is partnering with Southern California Off Track Wagering Inc, a non-profit group of Southern California representatives of racing associations, fairs, and satellite wagering facilities.
