MGM at Foxwoods opens as the “Roar Next Door”MASHANTUCET, CT - The famous lion logo witnessed the gala grand opening of the new $700-million MGM at Foxwoods this past weekend. The new venue celebrated with 4,000 invited guests Friday night and Saturday night and opened to the public at midnight Saturday night. The invited guests included Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jenny McCarthy, Kim Kardashian, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. They were entertained with performances by Alicia Keys, Josh Groban and John Mayer in the new MGM Grand Theater, which will feature Gloria Estefan, Jerry Seinfeld and Celine Dion later this summer. "When two entities like Foxwoods and MGM come together, amazing things can happen," said Mashantucket Tribal Council Chairman Kenneth Reels. "We are thrilled to introduce a new level of luxury and sophistication to visitors and residents of Connecticut alike with the opening of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods," said Gillian Murphy, Sr. VP and GM.
