Revenue Down at CT Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos
July 15, 2014
Slot machine revenue is down two months in a row as reported by two Connecticut
American Indian casinos.
The Mohegan Sun reported a ten percent decline last month in comparison to a
year ago. The casino earned $574.9 million in June. A five percent decline in
June of last year was also reported from Foxwoods Resort Casino. The Foxwoods
reported earning $479.1 million last month.
Both casinos have seen a steady decrease in both wagering and revenues. It is
believed that the slow economy is partly to blame for the decline. Another
concern is for the increase in casino competition in surrounding areas.
In order to help increase business, both the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods plan to
develop new casinos in Massachusetts.
