July 11, 2008 POMPANO BEACH, FL – A federal judge rejected a lawsuit brought by the Pompano Harness Racing Track to stop high-stakes blackjack and baccarat at the Seminole Casino in Hollywood, Florida. U.S. District Judge Stephan P. Mickle's said the tribe is "immune from such lawsuits". The ruling will have a major impact by allowing the Seminole Tribe to operate blackjack, baccarat, and other games indefinitely while other legal battles continue through the courts. The federal court decision came despite the Florida Supreme Court’s ruling
last week that declared the gaming compact between the Seminoles and Gov Crist
