Florida gaming growth slowed in 2007August 25, 2008Indian gaming revenues in Florida last year totaled 1.6 billion. This was a 2.3 percent increase over 2006. This compares to a 5% growth nationwide in 2007 Indian gaming. The total revenues were $26.5 billion. The top 5 gaming states in order were California, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Arizona and Florida. These accounted for 62%% of the total. The data was compiled by Dr. Alan Meister, an economist with Analysis Group, and published in this year’s edition of the "Casino City's Indian Gaming Industry Report". According to Dr. Meister the slower growth rate in Florida resulted from a sluggish economy and increased competition. The growth in the coming year will depend on whether the courts uphold the casino compacts signed between the Seminole Tribe and Gov. Crist. Return to Florida Casinos. |
