Meeting to Be Held for Possible 24 Hour Gaming at IL Casinos
September 03, 2013
A special meeting is scheduled to take place on September 19th to discuss the
operating hours of casinos.
The state's casinos would like to operate 24 hours daily. As of now, all casinos
may only be open for 22 hours a day.
Many of the state's casinos believe that the extra 2 hours of operation could
help their business. Currently the gaming revenue is down. If the casinos were
allowed to be open 24 hours, it could attract more gamblers. More gaming
revenues would also help the state.
Truck stops are allowed to offer electronic gaming 24 hours daily. Casino
operators do not believe there should be a difference in the law when it comes
to the casinos.
However, groups opposed to the increased gaming hours believe that it will take
advantage of people that are tired and cannot make good judgment. Anti gaming
groups suggest the solution should be to end 24 hour gaming at truck stops
