East St. Louis's Casino Queen has been purchased by Gaming and Leisure
Properties Inc. The purchase was made on November 01, for $140 million. The
purchasing company is a break off from Penn National Gaming Inc.
The casino has 1,155 gaming machines and 27 game tables. The casino floor is
38,000 square feet. There is also restaurants and a hotel with 157 guest rooms.
It is the first casino to be bought by the company. The purchase as seen as a
way to have a casino in a strong gaming market.
Penn National will be the operating company of the casino. Rent will be paid to
Gaming and Leisure.
