Indiana Live! Casino celebrates millionth guest

December 9, 2008

SHELBYVILLE, IN - As reported by The Shelbyville News: "Indiana Live! Casino welcomed its millionth guest to the Shelbyville temporary gaming facility since its opening in June.

"Richard Allen Sherman, a 25-year-old insulator from Lawrenceburg and first-time visitor to the casino, walked into the casino to the blast of sirens and a drop of balloons and confetti.

"This is truly overwhelming. I can't believe this happened to me," he said of the spectacle. "This will make Christmas a little brighter this year, that's for sure.”

“Since its opening day, the casino has paid nearly $16.7 million in state wagering taxes.

"...After the initial fanfare, Sherman then had a choice to make. He could select as his prize either 1 million credits on penny slot machines, $10,000 in free slot play or $5,000 in cash. He picked the cash -100 crisp, new $50 bills.

"...Indiana Live! Casino opened doors to its 70,000-square-foot temporary facility that includes more than 1,900 slot machines and electronic table games on June 9. Since, the casino has welcomed guests from as far away as California, New York, Georgia and Texas..."

“Construction continues on the permanent Indiana Live! Casino, which will be a 233,000-square-foot site connected to Indiana Downs that will feature more than 1,900 slot machines and electronic table games and dining and entertainment destinations including Maker's Mark Steakhouse, NASCAR Sports Grille, the Live Market with international cuisine and the Mosaic Bar and Lounge, featuring live entertainment. The permanent facility is expected to open during the first quarter of 2009.”
