Indiana Live! Casino opens to huge crowdsMarch 14, 2009SHELBYVILLE, IN – Thousands lined up Friday night for the opening of the new $200 million Indiana Live! casino at the Indiana Downs horse track near Shelbyville. The new casino is located about 15 miles southeast of Indianapolis on Interstate 74. The 233,000 square-foot casino features 2,000 slot machines and several restaurants. News reports say Justin TImberlake and Jessica Biel were scheduled to perform but were no-shows. By 9 pm traffic was backed up beyond 3 miles on Interstate 74. When the casino reached its 8,000 visitor capacity, police began turning cars away from the casino. Return to Indiana Casinos. |
