Cedar Rapids Casino Project Open to Developer Applications
June 06, 2013
Applications are being accepted for developers interested in build a casino in
Cedar Rapids. The application deadline is September 03.
Last March voters in Linn County approved a measure that would bring additional
casinos to the state. The approval allows for a developer to build a casino that
would cost $100 million.
A consultant will be hired by the state's Racing and Gaming Commission to study
the impact of the proposed casino.
Officials for the city of Davenport are also being encouraged to allow the
Rhythm City casino to be purchased by Dan Kehl. The casino is located near the
Mississippi River. If approved, the casino will be moved to the proposed $110
million casino resort venue off Interstate 80. Currently casinos in both
Larchwood and Riverside are operated by Kehl.
