Western Iowa's Blackbird Bend Casino is now open. The gaming complex is located
near Onawa. Off of Interstate 29 and the Missouri River. A dedication ceremony
was held on Friday. The casino is owned by the Omaha Tribe of Iowa and Nebraska.
The tribe's previous casino, CasinOmaha, was destroyed three years ago when it
was flooded by the Missouri River. However a small section of the casino was
able to stay in operation while the new casino was under construction.
The casino operates hundreds of state of the art slot machines. They also offer
table games of poker, blackjack, roulette, and craps.
Tentatively, a bingo hall is scheduled to open in March. The Blackbird Bend
Speedway is also scheduled to open in a few months.
The Upstream Cafe is open daily as a dining option. It serves both off the menu
items as well as a dinner buffet. There is also a bar with live entertainment
and a gift shop on the property.
140 jobs were created by the Blackbird Bend Casino.
