Proposed Wild Rose Casino for Downtown Cedar Rapids
September 16, 2016
A new Wild Rose casino plan has been submitted for Cedar Rapids downtown area.
The casino would cost $40 million to complete.
When Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved the Jefferson Wild Rose Casino &
Resort, a moratorium was put into place for three years for new casino
applications. 2017 is when that moratorium is scheduled to end.
The proposed casino would be a smaller boutique style gaming venue. It would
consist of four floors. The first floor would be for parking. The second floor
is where gaming would take place. Commercial office space would be located on
the third and fourth floors.
Hotel rooms, dining, and entertainment areas are not planned for this location.
The proposed location would be across from the Double Tree Hilton and Convention
Center in downtown Cedar Rapids. It is believed that the caino would attract
more guests for the hotel and surrounding restaurants.
