November 12, 2007 A partnership of MGM Mirage and Foxwoods Development submitted a proposal to the Kansas Lottery Commission for construction of a new casino resort in Mulvane. The site would be 176 acres on the west side of the Kansas Turnpike bordering Sedgwick County. The project is named “The Chisholm Creek Casino Resort” and would host a hotel with 250 guest rooms and a casino with 2,000 slot machines and 50 table games. The estimated employees are 1,400. Ownership would split with 90% owned by the MGM Mirage-Foxwoods partnership and 10% by the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska and Chisholm Creek Ventures. Since the state legislature authorized one casino in Sumner County, this is the second proposal submitted. There is a prior proposal from Harrah's Entertainment Inc. for a casino at the Mulvane exit of the Kansas Turnpike. Others are expected for sites on I-35. Return to Kansas Casinos. |
