Sumner County Endorses Casino near Wellington Exit of KS Turnpike |

December 12, 2007 WELLINGTON, KS – The Sumner County commissioners met today and endorsed two proposals to build a casino near the Wellington exit of the Kansas Turnpike. After considering public comments that overwhelmingly supported the Wellington site, the commissioners voted unanimously for the two proposals for this site. The proposals were submitted by Penn National Gaming and Marvel Gaming. The commissioners rejected two other proposals to put a casino near the Mulvane interchange on the turnpike just across the county line separating Sedgwick and Sumner counties. These proposals were submitted by Harrah’s Entertainment and MGM Mirage During the next ninety days the Kansas Lottery will review the recommendations of the commissioners and choose one of the two proposals.
