FireKeepers Casino Will Open Mid-2009

HURON POTAWATOMI INDIAN RESERVATION - The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi will soon begin construction on their FireKeepers Casino near Marshall, Michigan.

The location is between Marshall and Battle Creek on the south side of Interstate 94 at Exit 104 in Emmett Township.

  • Five food and beverage venues

Tribal leaders announced their selection of Clark Construction Co. of Lansing as their contractor and estimate the project will create 700 construction jobs.

Construction will begin in early 2008, and the casino will open in mid-2009. They will begin hiring in early 2009 and eventually add 2,500 more jobs by the time the casino opens.

Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi is a federally recognized Potawatomi Indian tribe. They received federal recognition in 1996. Their name “Nottawaseppi” means "Huron River" in their native language.
