EMMETT TOWNSHIP - FireKeepers Casino announced it will open in early August. Previous announcements were "summer 2009".

Construction is in the final stages for the 107,000-square-foot casino which will host 2,680 slot machines. It will employ 1,500 people and pay
$2 million of slot machine revenue to local governments.

The casino is owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi and operated by Gaming Entertainment Michigan.
