While lawsuits are forming, the Bay Mills Indian Tribe are preparing to defend
their new casino in federal court. The casino is facing possible closure after
just opening in November of this year.
The tribe is confident in their legal position and opened the casino lawfully.
The day the casino was opened, the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians
filled a lawsuit to shut Bay Mills down. Stating that they are operating a
casino that is not on Indian land.
Currently the Bay Mills Casino, located in Vanderbilt, is still open and will
continue to operate pending litigation.
