April 27, 2009 CLARKSDALE, MS - There have been preliminary efforts to bring a new casino to Coahoma County. The Clarksdale Press Register reported last week that the County Planning Commission gave approval to the county surveyor to conduct a site plan on a parcel of land in northwest Coahoma County for a potential casino. According to County Surveyor Jessie Ivy the land is located approximately a quarter mile east of the Isle of Capri Casino in Lula. It is currently zoned for agriculture. The next step to allow a casino to prepare building plans is to obtain a conditional use permit. The casino and its developer have not yet been disclosed. Return to Mississippi Casinos. |
