Delta Blues Casino approved by Greenville City Council
August 25, 2010
The site for a third casino was approved by the Greenville City Council. It is
at the property formally occupied by Chicago Mills.
The new casino will consist of an on land gaming facility. There will also be a
hotel and convention center. There are even plans for a water park. It is
estimated that the casino build will cost $9 million. Depending on state
approval, the total build time for the casino is approximately 16 – 18 months.
The additional project developments of the hotel, convention center, and water
park are estimated to cost $39 million.
Developers will meet with the Mississippi Gaming Commission next. Approval must
come from the commission before they can proceed with the plans. That meeting is
scheduled for September 23.
