Revenue on the Rise at Mississippi Casinos

May 25, 2015

Mississippi casinos are reporting higher revenues for April. This applies to both casinos along the Gulf Coast and the Mississippi River.

The report was released by the State Department of Revenue.

Overall $177.1 million in revenue was earned by the casinos. That is an 8.1 percent increase from last year. In April 2014 $165.8 million was earned.

$82.8 million was reported at the 17 river area casinos. That is an increase of 4.4 percent from a year ago.

$94.3 million was reported from the Gulf Coast casinos. This was 11.5 percent higher also compared to the previous year.

The Gulf Coast area has reported an increase in revenue 9 times in the last 11 months. However, river area casinos have only reported an increase 3 times in the last 34 months.

The report does not include revenue earnings from the Choctaw Indian casinos. It is not required that the tribe submit a report to the state.
