June 25, 2008 CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - Businessman David Knight hopes to build a riverboat and entertainment complex at Cape Girardeau. He is pursuing a casino partner for his endeavor despite the announcement by the Missouri Gaming Commission to freeze all new applications until voters decide in November whether to the state should license new casinos. Knight is the owner of barbecue oven manufacturer Ole Hickory Pits. He has partnered with Jim Riley, the owner of Red Letter Communications, to form a company named Dreambig LLC. Together they have picked up an option to purchase the land along North Main Street owned by a Las Vegas company that once planned to develop a casino. The only riverboat casino south of St. Louis is in Caruthersville, Missouri. Return to Missouri Casinos. |
