Apache Homeland Casino ends bingo

October 6, 2009

DEMING, NM - The Fort Sill Apaches have stopped offering paper bingo games at its Homeland Casino near Deming after making an agreement with the federal government. They had operated bingo games three days a week from April until September 17th.

In July the National Indian Gaming Commission order the tribe to stop the bingo games or risk $25,000 fines for violations.

Tribal Chairman Jeff Houser says the commission agreed to hold off fining the tribe if it would stop the games pending the outcome of the tribe's appeal of the violation notice.
