Harrah’s Cherokee Casino – Petition for Alcohol |
CHEROKEE, NC - A group in Cherokee is seeking signatures for a ballot referendum
to allow alcohol sales at Harrah’s Casino. The group named the Petitioners
Committee has already gathered 1,000 of the minimum 1,600 signatures required to
qualify for the ballot. To sign the petition you must be a registered voter and
member of the Cherokee tribe. Norma Moss, chairwoman of the Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise, says alcohol sales would add $40 million to $70 million in revenues. This would provide additional income to the 14,000 tribal members who receive per capita checks from half of the casino’s profits. Harrah’s is undergoing a $650 million expansion that includes additional gaming, a spa, entertainment facility, and 500 more rooms, Return to North Carolina Casinos. |
