The new Cherokee Casino & Hotel in Roland is preparing to open. It cost $80 million to build. The casino is designed using the four sacred elements for the tribe. Earth, wind, fire, and water.

On Tuesday the casino opened for a private showing to tribal and community members. The preview was a way to prepare the new employees. As well as show the design to the invited guests.

The casino was an important project for the Cherokee Nation. 300 new jobs have been created for tribal members. A portion of the money earned from the casino will go to help emergency services for elders and for health clinics.

250 positions were filled in April during job fairs. The hotel positions will be filled by the remaining 50 openings.

The building is 170,000 square feet. This includes the hotel space. When open, the casino will operate 850 electronic games.

The resort hotel will offer 120 guest rooms. There will also be space for conventions.

May 19 is the planned date for the soft opening. The grand opening will take place in early July.
