PITTSBURGH - The $780 million Rivers Casino held a 15-minute ribbon-cutting
ceremony at noon today in front of a crowd of 500 who witnessed fireworks
and confetti as the doors opened to the public for the first time.

"This is your casino," Rivers President Ed Fasulo told the crowd.

"We've waited a very long period of time to get here," said Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

Within an hour, almost all of the 3,000 slot machines were being played.
About 55 percent of the machines are reel and 45 percent are video. There
are 973 penny machines, 420 two-cent, 348 nickel, 673 quarter, 38 half
dollar, 351 one dollar, 85 five-dollar, four $100, and one $500 minimum-bet
