The expanded gaming bill that is being proposed to Rhode Island residents could earn the state a portion of gaming. The bill will allow for table games to be operated at casinos. The games would include blackjack and poker. The casinos that would be offering the tables games would be Twin Rivers and Newport Grand.
On Wednesday, the governor made an announcement that an agreement was made on the amount casinos would pay the state. The legislation was signed by Governor Lincoln Chafee. The state could earn 18% of the revenue.
Owners of the Twin River and Newport Grand state that competition from neighboring states has prompted the need for the new bill. The new casinos offer currently table games.
Voters will make their decision in November of this year.
