The Miccosukee Tribe broke ground last week on a new casino adjacent to the Miccosukee Service Station on I-75 (Exit 49) and Snake Road in Ochopee, Florida. The casino will be 8,500 square feet and feature 150 slot machines. The grand opening is scheduled for this November.
The Miccosukee calls this new highway casino "one of its kind in Florida."
We haven't had an expansion in about two decades since the resort. It's important because we need room to grow as a community - we have community members living here but if we can show that this facility is working, then more people may come here.

The Miccosukee Service Plaza Casino will sit on the right-side of the existing service plaza, which was recently renovated. The service plaza has fueling stations, restrooms, a Dunkin' Donuts and the Glades Cafe. The location is halfway across Interstate 75 passing through the Everglades between southeast and southwest coasts of the state.
