Eleanor of El Cajon, Calif. is on "cloud nine" after winning the grand finale
round of Barona Resort & Casino's $750,000 Free Slot Tournament Series. In
addition to her first place $25,000 cash prize, Eleanor has won an all expenses
paid trip to Las Vegas and a seat at the TournEvent of Champions, a nationwide
slot tournament on September 25.
"I wake up each morning thinking I'm living in a dream," said Eleanor, a
grandmother of four who was born in Jamaica and is happy to now call San Diego
home. "From the moment the confetti fell and Barona told me I was the winner, I
was in a state of shock. Now, I am so excited to fly to Las Vegas to try and win
a share of $250,000."
The $750,000 Free Slot Tournament Series was one of Barona's biggest promotions
of the year so far. Eleanor joined thousands of other Club Barona members who
were invited to play in the February, April and June tournaments where they had
a chance to win a share of $50,000 in weekly prizes and $100,000 in grand finale
prizes. She was one of 88 lucky players who advanced to the August finale and
will now represent Barona at the TournEvent of Champions.
"Eleanor has been a loyal player since the mid-1980s so this was an especially
memorable moment for all of us in the Barona family," said Rick Salinas, general
manager of Barona Resort & Casino. "All of her friends and family at Barona will
be cheering her on and hope she wins the championship in Las Vegas and is
crowned the best slot tournament player in the nation."
Barona was one of the home casinos participating in Multimedia Games' TournEvent
of Champions nationwide slot tournament. Players from across the country had a
chance to win a trip to Las Vegas and a share of $250,000 in cash prizes by
playing in a qualifying TournEvent tournament at their home casino. Next month,
Eleanor and the dozens of winners from participating casinos from coast to coast
will compete for the title of Nation's Best Tournament Player.
