An expansion near an Alpine hotel and casino is being planned by the Viejas Band
of Kumeyaay Indians.
On September 24, the tribe will meet with the San Diego County Board of
Supervisors to discuss the expansion project. At the meeting, the Viejas will be
instructed by the supervisors what requirements will be needed for the project
to progress.
In March of 2013, the tribe opened their current 128 room hotel at the Viejas
casino.
Plans for the new expansion project include adding an additional 128 rooms.
A new gaming compact with the tribe and state of California was approved on
August 12 by Gov. Jerry Brown. Under the new compact, a percentage of the casino
revenue will be paid to the state.
Return to California Casinos.
