Federal Heath Sign Company brought a new headliner to East Peoria, Ill., just in time for New Year's; a 54-foot-high Vegas-style marquee, welcoming visitors to Boyd Gaming's Par-A-Dice Hotel & Casino.

Designed to give guests a welcoming glimpse of the entertainment experience that awaits them within, the new Art Deco-themed marquee brings a spectacular new entrance to Par-A-Dice, incorporating elements of the previous marquee while introducing a more modern look and feel.

The most noticeable new features of the marquee are two 180-square-foot, high-definition video screens that broadcast promotions and previews of Par-A-Dice 24 hours a day. Capable of displaying video in 590 quintillion colors, the 19-foot-wide XVS video displays are controlled wirelessly from within the Par-A-Dice property.

Topping the video screens are an Art Deco-themed display of neon in various rectangular and square surfaces. More than 825 feet of neon tubing wrap around the upper segment of the marquee, and are programmed to animate in a variety of different patterns. Embedded within this display are letters spelling "Par-A-Dice," lit by unique new LED "Core" bulbs that produce an intense glow and 360° of illumination.

Topping the marquee are a pair of red dice, a design element brought over from the previous display. Producing this display was one of the most labor-intensive elements of the design; digital pictures were taken of real dice from a variety of angles, then CGI was used to enlarge the images 25-fold in size. The final result; a huge set of red dice that appear lifelike in every detail.

The legs of the marquee are highlighted by a series of LED strips that illuminate the columns at night. The strips for this section are high-intensity "all-in-one" strips designed for outdoor applications, with the LED components and power supplies encased in high-grade aluminum housings. The LED strips produce a warm white glow that extends along the entire length of each leg.
