A gaming bill was passed by the Illinois House. The bill allows for casinos to
be built in 5 cities. The gaming expansion bill will also allow for gaming on
riverboats, and racetracks to operate slot machines.
People in support of the expanded gaming bill believe new jobs will be created
by the new bill.
Governor Pat Quinn believes the state has bigger issues that need to be
addressed before the gaming bill. As a requested by the governor, the original
bill was changed. Airports and fairgrounds will not be allowed to operate slot
The expanded gaming bill was passed by the state's house 69 to 47. The bill will
now move to the Senate for approval.
