A report on the economic impact of Native American casinos in the U.S. was
recently released. The report was presented by the American Gaming Association (AGA).
It was released in Oklahoma City at a meeting of casino gaming leaders. The
event was hosted by AGA as part of the AGA's Get to Know Gaming campaign.
According to the report, the economic impact has be close to $97 billion. $33
billion has been paid in work wages. 635,000 jobs have been created by tribal
gaming. $16 billion has been paid in federal, state, and local government taxes
It gave an analysis of each state for the first time ever.
Over 485 tribal own some sort of gaming operation in the country. Also, there
are 565 tribes that have 244 casinos that are located in 28 states.
The annual revenue from the Native American owned casinos is over $31 billion.
43 percent of casino gambling in the U.S. takes place at a tribal owned venue.
