Since 2003, Maine voters have denied three previous casino referendums.
Hollywood Slots has been the only successful case that was approved by voters.
The racetrack casino operates slot machines in Bangor.
However, with the November election approaching, investors of a proposed casino
resort are confident voters will approve the project.
Black Bear Entertainment, LLC is behind the $165 million project. They plan to
build a casino resort on the full scale level. This will include black jack, as
well as craps and other table games.
The company is hopeful that Mainers will see the new project as a way to help
the economy by creating jobs.
