With New York adding three new upstate casinos, New Jersey is looking at a possible boost to expand its own gaming industry.

Plans are being made for a new waterfront casino that would be located near the Liberty National Golf Course, in Jersey City. It would be a high-rise gaming facility, named Liberty Rising. The project aims to attract upscale visitors.

The location would make the casino the closest to the Manhattan area.

Guests would be able to arrive by car, boat, or rail.

Supporters of the project believe that the casino could be North America's highest grossing casino.

State lawmakers are pushing to allow for casinos to be developed outside of Atlantic City. They are hopeful to have a referendum to vote on next year.
