On Wednesday plans were announced for a new casino project to be built off of U.S. 84/285 by the Pueblo of Tesuque. It will be located near The Santa Fe Opera on tribal land.

Plans include gaming tables and 750 slot machines. There will also be dining options.

A possible hotel could be built in the future.

In January groundbreaking will begin. The project is etimated to be finished by the end of next year. The design firm of Dekker/Perich/Sabatini will be in charge of the architecture. Construction will be handled by Bradbury Stamm Construction.

New Mexico companies will be participating in the casino project. The engineering will be handled by Bohannan Huston and Souder Miller & Associates.

Camel Rock Casino is owned by the tribe. It is over 20 years old. The casino will be closed since it would cost more to renovate it than to build a new one.
