On Thursday an announcement was made over the name change for the Seneca County
casino that is being built.
The $425 million casino, formally known as Lago Resort & Casino, will now be
called del Lago Resort & Casino.
Del Lago means "of the lake" in Italian. The name change was to better show
visitors that the casino is the gateway to the Finger Lakes.
The casino project was first announced in 2013. At that time it was called the
Wilmot Casino Resort. In 2014 the casino then changed the name again to Lago
Resort & Casino.
An estimated 1,800 construction related jobs will be created by the casino and
1,800 permanent jobs when the casino is completed.
February 2017 is the planned competition date for the del Lago Resort & Casino
Return to New York Casinos.
