Construction on the third casino for the Oneida Indian Nation is about to begin.
The future casino will be located near Cicero in the town of Sullivan.
The location for the casino will be on land that belongs to the Oneida Nation.
Approval from the federal government is not needed.
The 65,000 square foot casino is estimated to cost between $40 and $50 million
to complete. Officials for the Oneida Nation stated that construction will begin
in May and be finished in Spring next year.
Named Point Place Casino, it will be opened 24 hours a day. There will be 20
gaming tables and 500 slot machines. The parking area will have spots for 800
vehicles. Two lounges and a bakery will also be created. Alcohol will be
available and will also be smoke free. Restaurants include Burgers of Madison
County, and Wicked Good Pizza.
250 construction jobs will be created by the project. 200 casino support jobs
will also be created when open.
