Jake's 58 Hotel & Casino in Islandia opened a few months ago and has proven to
be very successful. Starting next weekend, an additional 273 machines will be in
operation at the casino.
The machines at the casino have made more money than most of the other casinos
in New York, according to the state's Gaming Commission. $778 was made daily at
each of the machines at Jake's casino. Statewide the average amount was close to
$326 per machine daily.
When the casino first opened in February, 265 gaming machines were in operation.
The following month the casino added 35 more terminals. May added another 427
machines.
More machines are being added to the casino to help meet the demand from guests.
Complaints had been made about having to wait for extended periods for an open
machine.
The former swimming pool of the hotel is where the additional slot machines will
be located. The casino will be able to operate up to 1,000 slot machines under
the current law.
