The final of the four approved casinos for Upstate New York has undergone a name
change.
Resorts World Catskills, formally named Montreign Resort Casino is a $1 billion
casino located in Sullivan County near Monticello. The beginning of 2018 is when
the project is expected to be completed.
Empire Resorts has agreed to be the casino hotel operating management company.
New branding will occur with the name change. The branding will match that of
the other Resorts World. Those locations are in New York, Bahamas, Singapore,
and Malaysia.
The location of the Catskill casino will be at the former Concord Hotel. The
Concord hotel operated from 1950 to 1998 and was known as the largest resort in
the area.
In 2015 four non-Native American owned casinos were approved to be developed in
Upstate New York.
When open, Resorts World Catskills will be an casino hotel that will be 18
stories tall. It will operate 2,150 slot machines and 61 gaming tables. The
hotel will have 391 guest rooms. Entertainment options will include an indoor
water park, golf course, shopping, and dining.
