The new hotel at Tioga Downs Casino opened on Friday. The hotel offers 161 guest
rooms.
A year ago the casino began operating Las Vegas style gaming offering table
games and slot machines. Before that time it was a racetrack that also operated
gaming machines.
There are over six floors at the hotel. There is convention space and dining
options.
A $4 million golf course and clubhouse will also be added as part of the casino
expansion.
New York State Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul was in attendance at the
ceremony that opened the hotel. He stated that the the new resort will become a
popular destination.
The New York gaming regulators and state government approved Tioga Downs as one
of four casinos for the Upstate area. The state voters approved the casino
expansion in 2013.
