MOHEGAN SUN CONCORD
Thompson, New York
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, which owns the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, has hoped to build an Indian casino resort in the Catskills since 2000. The tribe has now changed their plans to a commercial project.
The casino would be named the Mohegan Sun Concord. It would cost $600 million and be built at the site of the former Concord Resort Hotel in Thompson, New York. Total facility square footage will be 800,000.
Virtually all environmental approvals were obtained when applying to take land into federal trust for an Indian casino. It will have all local approvals in time for submission of application. It also has a resolution of support from Town of Thompson.
