Only two Florida tribes are recognized by the federal government, the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians and Seminole Tribe of Florida.

There are about 90,000 acres if tribal reservation land in Floriday. The Miccosukee Tribe has three locations and the Seminoles have six. Neither tribe has indicated plans to enter the cannabis industry.

The Poarch Indians from Alabama own and acre of land in Escambia County in the northwest Panhandle. The want to negotiate a gaming compact with Florida, but the Florida governor has shown no interest. The tribe is threatening to grow marijuana on their land if they can not get a gaming agreement.


Hemp is a variety of Cannabis plant grown for industrial use.
