There is one federally recognized tribe in Iowa, the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa

The Sac & Fox Tribe is recognized as sovereign by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the U.S. Interior Department, and the DOJ marijuana policy on tribal reservations applies to this Iowa tribe.

Hemp

Hemp is a variety of Cannabis plant grown for industrial use.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will allow tribes to self-administer hemp production on their reservations if they submit an acceptable plan. See U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program.

Sac and Fox Tribe opens Meskwaki Organix CBD dispensary

November 30, 2020

The Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa opened its Meskwaki Organix Store Nov 13 inside the Meskwaki Travel Plaza at 1494 Highway 30 in Tama, Iowa. The hours are 11am-6pm everyday.

The Meskwaki Organix Store is the first CBD dispensary to open on tribal land in Iowa. The products will also be distributed through Big River Trading Company, the wholesale division of the Sac and Fox Tribe.
