Choctaw Casino Resort Durant

The Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant is located in Southeastern Oklahoma about 95 miles north of Dallas. It is one of eight casinos owned by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

The Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant originally opened in 2006 with a 100,000-square-foot casino. Since that time there has been four major expansion projects. In 2010 a 12-story hotel tower was added. In 2012 a major upgrade of the Choctaw Lodge and Choctaw Inn was completed. In 2015 a new hotel tower, the Grand Theater, and The District family entertainment center were opened.

$600M Expansion Opened August 6, 2021

The fourth and latest expansion project at Choctaw Casino Resort Durant began in April 2019. Construction will cost $600 million and open to the public in August 2021.

The Choctaw Nation gaming business started in 1987 as a small bingo hall in Durant, OK. Within a few years, slot machines were added, and in 2006 Choctaw Bingo was renamed Choctaw Casino.

Today Choctaw gaming operates in 11 counties. The gaming properties includes three casino resorts, four stand-alone casinos, and 15 mini-casinos in travle plazas.

Through the years, the original Durant bingo hall has grown into a 218,844 square-foot casino with three hotel towers.

The newest Choctaw casino will be Choctaw Landing in Hochatown, McCurtain County. Choctaw Landing is currently under construction and will open in Spring 2024.

At this year's event on May 11 in New York City, Choctaw Casinos & Resorts received the SBC Silver Award for "Tribal Gaming Operator of the Year".

Choctaw Casinos & Resorts was recognized for its $600 million expansion of its Durant casino in 2021. The investment added the 21-story, 1,000-room Sky Tower hotel and expanded the casino for an additional 3,300 slot machines, 40 more table games, and new 30-table poker room.

In 2022 Choctaw Casinos & Resorts began construction on Choctaw Landing, a $165 million casino hotel and entertainment resort in Hochatown, McCurtain County, OK. Choctaw Landing will be the Tribe's ni nth casino and open in 2024. The 200,000-square-foot complex will include a 600-slots casino, a 100-room hotel, an outdoor amphitheater, and a family gaming arcade.

Choctaw Durant will host Freedom Choctaw Collectors Car Auction Oct. 1

September 29, 2022

The inaugural Freedom Choctaw Collector Car Auction will be held at the Choctaw Casino & Resort Center in Durant, OK on Saturday Oct. 1. The auction is a partnership between Spanky's Freedom Car Auctions and Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant.

The auction will offer rare vehicles and automobilia from many consignors and feature the Ron Vest Collection. The highlighted vehicles include the following:

Choctaw Casinos & Resorts has signed a four-year partnership with the PGA to be the presenting sponsor of the new ClubCorp Classics. The inaugural tournament is April 19-24 at ClubCorp's Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas. The event will bring together 78 PGA Tour Champions professionals and 50 sports and entertainment celebrities.

New $600M Choctaw Casino Durant is targeting North Texans

August 25, 2021

Native American casinos in South Oklahoma draw heavily from cities in North Texas. Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant is only 14 miles from the Texas border and 90 miles from Dallas.

For this reason, the Choctaw Nation invested $600 million into expanding and upgrading its casino and hotel in Durant, Oklahoma. The new resort opened August 6 with a casino floor that doubled in size and now features 7,400 slot machines and 100 table games. A second hotel tower was also added that increases the number of rooms to 1,700.

The population of North Texas is double that of Oklahoma, so it is no surprise that Texans represent a major share of gamblers in Oklahoma casinos.

Some experts estimate Texan gamblers spend $2.5 to $3 billion annually in Oklahoma. That amount of revenue is essential to the economy of the Oklahoma's tribal casinos. Texas is not likely to legalize its own casinos in the near future, however if someday it does, many of the casinos in Oklahoma would become unprofitable.

August 12, 2021

This week the Choctaw Casinos & Resorts announced a three-year promotional partnership with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association^® (PRCA). Choctaw Casinos & Resorts is now an "Official National Partner of the PRCA" and a sponsor the bull riders of the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) and other Oklahoma rodeos.

Choctaw Casinos branding will appear on the bull rider jerseys, back numbers, and PRC and NFR advertising at more than 700 events per year. The casinos will be endorsed by select PRCA riders.

The Choctaw Casinos & Resorts partnership with the PRCA extends through 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Choctaw Casino Durant opens $600M expansion tonight!

August 6, 2021

Choctaw Casino Durant will officially open its $600 million casino and hotel expansion at 6 PM tonight. The event will be celebrated with a $1 Million Grand Opening Giveaway Weekend.

The newly expanded Durant casino has added 3,300 new slot machines for a total of 7,400. Table games now exceeds 100 and the poker room has added 30 more tables.

In addition to the larger casino, Choctaw Durant has added a 21-story hotel tower named Aqua Sky Tower, which increased the total number of hotel rooms to 1,700. Both the new and old towers have swimming pools with private cabanas. New restuarants have been added, as well as new entertainment venues.

Choctaw Casino Durant nears completion of $600M expansion

The $600 million expansion of the Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant began construction in April 2019 and is now nearing completion. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for August 5th with the public opening with a firework show is scheduled for August 6th.

The expansion of the Durant casino resort will add a 21-story, 1,000-room hotel tower, more dining venues, a larger casino floor and entertainment venues.

The new casino space will feature 3,300 new slot machines, 40 new table games and 30 new poker tables. The new and the old casinos will be connected by the upgraded District family entertainment center.

The wall of the new casino and the hotel tower will be decorated with artwork by Choctaw tribal members. The new hotel tower will also include many other amenities including a 3-acre pool area.

Choctaw Casino Durant's $600M expansion opens Aug 6, 2021

After months of delays for material shortages, Choctaw Casian Durant is preparing to open its $600 million expansion on August 6th.

Choctaw Casino director of resort marketing, Brien Caldwell, gave this insight:

"We are on schedule. We're gonna be opening, our grand opening is in August.

"Like most people in the industry, we did experience a couple delays mainly just due to material shortages as well as this past February with the cold snap, that was just a slight delay."

The new additions to the casino will include an expanded gaming floor with 3,300 new slot machines, 40 new table games and a new poker room with 30 tables. New dining and lounge venues will include the 1832 Steakhouse, The League sports bar, Prizm Lounge center bar and The Reserve whiskey bar.

The new additions to the hotel will include a new Sky Tower with 1,000 guest rooms and Aqua at Sky Tower, a 3-acre pool complex with a family section and an adult-only section. Aqua will also include 50 cabanas and four pool-side bars.

Choctaw Casinos & Resorts reopen June 1

May 24, 2020

All Choctaw gaming properties and hotels will reopen Monday June 1st. They were closed March 16 to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

The Choctaw Casinos Facebook page reads: "We are developing a comprehensive health and safety plan to prepare for re-opening and to ensure the health and safety of all guests and associates. Operations and amenities will be limited at first but more details to come."

GUEST SAFETY MEASURES
Guest occupancy will be limited to allow safe distancing.
New health procedures will follow public guidelines.
Masks will be worn by employees and available to guests.
No valet and shuttle service will be available until further notice.

CASINO
Slot machines will operate with safe distancing between players. Poker and table games will limit players to every other seat. Every other table will be closed.

RESTAURANTS & BARS
All restaurants and bars will have reduced seating for safe distancing.

ENTERTAINMENT
Live entertainment and concerts are temporarily suspended. Cinema, bowling and arcade will operated under reduced capacity.

HOTELS
Hotels will reopen with enhanced room sterilization. Pools and spas will allow fewer guests.

A new restaurant, Guy Fieri's American Kitchen + Bar, will open in April at Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant.

The 11,000-square-foot restaurant will be open 24/7 and seat 277 guests. Its location is at the south end of the casino where the dining area and outdoor patio will view The Oasis Pool.

La Cantina celebrates new menu at Choctaw Casino Durant

The La Cantina restaurant at Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant is celebrating its new menu with a "Grand Opening Fiesta" on July 4-7 from 4PM to 8PM.

The new menu at La Cantina will be celebrated with free prizes and live Latin music over the 4-day holiday weekend. The casino will also hosts its annual fireworks show at dusk July 4th. Choctaw Casino Durant Breaks Ground on $600 Million Expansion

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma celebrated the groundbreaking of a new $600 million expansion project at their Durant casino that will add 1,000 hotel rooms, more gaming space, a parking garage, more restaurants and new retail space. The construction will be completed by August 2021.

The groundbreaking was April 25th and was attended by tribal leaders, city officials, industry representatives and community members. A ceremony was led by Chief Gary Batton of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma who told the gathering:

"Today is a special day for the Choctaw Nation as we embark upon an expansion journey that will result in a top-tier entertainment offering for our region and will spur economic growth for Durant and our state, plus new employment opportunities for our tribal and community members. The expansion will go a long way in meeting the demands of our growing customer base by delivering exciting new enhancements and luxury amenities for all who visit."

When the new hotel tower is completed, the Durant casino will have 1,650 total guest rooms. It will be the largest hotel in Oklahoma.

The expansion will also create another 1,000 new jobs. That will add to the current 2,500 employees.

Choctaw Casino and Resort announces a 2-year expansion plan

1,000 new employment opportunities are expected to be created by the Choctaw Casino and Resort expansion project. The Choctaw Casino and Resort is located in the city of Durant. By creating 1,000 new jobs it is expected to create a boost to the local economy in Durant.

On Tuesday the plans for the new expansion project at the Choctaw Casino and Resort were announced. Plans include a new hotel that will be developed. The new hotel will offer 1,000 rooms for guests. The expansion project will also include pools, a lazy river, shopping, conference center, and multiple dining venues. In addition, more gaming space at the casino and additional parking in the new parking garage.

The casino first opened in 2006. At that time the casino was 100,000 square feet. In 2010 a new 12 story tall hotel tower was opened. In 2012 renovations were completed at the Choctaw Lodge and Choctaw Inn. The District family entertainment center, Grand Theater, and an additional hotel tower and spa were opened in 2015.

This will be the fourth expansion project that the Choctaw Casino and Resort has undergone.

The latest expansion project came about to due to a market study that was conducted. The study showed that there is a need for more entertainment options in Southern Oklahoma and North Texas.

It is estimated to take 2 years to complete the project. The Choctaw Nation is hopeful to begin construction next year in the spring.
