Graton Resort & Casino is undergoing a $1 billion expansion project to enlarge its casino and add a 200-room hotel wing, a 3,500-seat theater, and a 5-story parking garage. The first phase of the project was opened May 4, 2026 with 144,000 square-feet added to the casino floor, 2,000 more slot machines, a new poker room, a high-limit gaming area, and four new restaurants. Graton is now the largest casino in in Northern California, and second largest in California behind Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel.

Graton Resort Casino

The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria opened their 534,000-square-foot casino resort at the northwest edge of Rohnert Park on Nov 5, 2013. The tribe signed a 20-year state gaming compact to pay a percentage of revenues to the state plus $200 million for public safety and other community services. Estimated first-year gaming revenue is $328.5 million and estimated 7th year is $392 million. Estimated permanent jobs is 2000 employees.

On November 15, 2016 the new 200 guest room hotel opened. Amenities include a fitness center and spa, a pool, and a 20,000 square-foot event center. The hotel project cost $175 million to complete.

In early 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic caused Graton Resort & Casino to shut down operations. Graton remained closed until June 18, 2020 when it reopened in the first phase of a managed process to ensure the safety of guest and employees.

Graton Resort & Casino announced plans on April 4, 2022 to vastly expand the size of its casino and add a second hotel tower. The casino gaming floor will add 144,000 square feet including a rooftop restaurant. The expansion project will also add 221 hotel rooms, an expanded swimming pool area, a 3,500-seat theater, and a 5-story parking garage. The casino floor expansion will open in early 2026.

Graton's $1B Expansion Project

Graton Casino Will Become Largest in Northern California
Graton Resort and Casino opened in Rohnert Park in 2013 at a cost of $825 million. The casino has a 135,000 square-foot gaming floor with 3,000 slot machines and 144 table games. A 200-room hotel was added in 2016.

In 2023 a new expansion project began which will double the size of both the casino and the hotel and also add a live entertainment theater, a rooftop restaurant and a new parking garage.

$1B PROJECT SUMMARY

Casino

The east side of the casino will be expanded with another 144,000 square feet to accomodate 2,000 more slot machines and 20 more table games.

The new total number of slot machines will be 6,000, the second most in California behind the 7,400 slot at Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel.

Rooftop Restaurant

A new rooftop dining venue will provide 28,000-square-feet for indoor and outdoor seating. Guest capacity will be 480.

Hotel

A new hotel wing will be built on the southside of the existing hotel. This will be a 6-story, 221 room addition with an expanded pool area. Total hotel rooms will be 421.

Theater

A live-entertainment theater will be built on the northside of the casino. Seating capacity will be 3,500.

Parking

A five-story parking garage will be added to the eastside of the casino. The 5-story structure will have parking capacity for 1,600 vehicles, 32 EV charging stations, solar panel arrays, and a pedestrian walkway to the casino.
