Graton Resort & Casino, owned by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, is undergoing one of the largesttribal gaming expansions in California - a $1 billion, multi-phase project transforming the property into atop-tier Northern California resort destination. The expansion's first major milestone opened on May 4, 2026,unveiling a 144,000-square-foot non-smoking casino wing, nearly 2,000 new slot machines, a new poker room, anda high-limit gaming lounge, immediately redefining the casino's scale and guest experience.
The expansion also introduced a new culinary district anchored by AYA, a 27,000-28,000 sq ft rooftop restaurantled by Chef Roy Ellamar. AYA features Coastal California cuisine with Asian influences, hyper-seasonalingredients sourced from Graton's own 40-acre farm, and panoramic views of the Sonoma hills. Additional openingsinclude Playbook Sports Bar, designed with wall-to-wall screens and a halo display for premium sports viewing,and SoCo Dough Co., a bakery and dessert concept rounding out the new dining lineup.
Future phases through 2027 will add a 200-room hotel tower, adults-only pool, expanded nightlife, and a3,500-seat entertainment theater - ultimately increasing Graton's gaming capacity to as many as 6,000 slotmachines. These upgrades position Graton as one of the most significant resort developments on the West Coast,creating hundreds of new jobs and driving major tourism growth in Sonoma County.

History
Graton Casino First Opened in 2013
The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria opened their 534,000-square-foot casino resort at the northwest edge of Rohnert Park on Nov 5, 2013. The tribe signed a 20-year state gaming compact to pay a percentage of revenues to the state plus $200 million for public safety and other community services. Estimated first-year gaming revenue is $328.5 million and estimated 7th year is $392 million. Estimated permanent jobs is 2000 employees.
Hotel Opened in 2016
On November 15, 2016 the new 200 guest room hotel opened. Amenities include a fitness center and spa, a pool, and a 20,000 square-foot event center. The hotel project cost $175 million to complete.
COVID Shutdown 2020
In early 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic caused Graton Resort & Casino to shut down operations. Graton remained closed until June 18, 2020 when it reopened in the first phase of a managed process to ensure the safety of guest and employees.
Expansion Plan Announced 2022
Graton Resort & Casino announced plans on April 4, 2022 to vastly expand the size of its casino and add a second hotel tower. The casino gaming floor will add 144,000 square feet including a rooftop restaurant. The expansion project will also add 221 hotel rooms, an expanded swimming pool area, a 3,500-seat theater, and a 5-story parking garage. The casino floor expansion opened in May 2026.
