The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma is building a new Harrah's-branded casino resort west of Chandler off I-44 between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Harrah's Oklahoma Casino Resort

In a press release May 10, 2023 the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma announced plans to build a Harrah's-branded casino resort between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Tribe is partnering with Caesars Entertainment to develop and manage the property.

Construction of Harrah's Oklahoma started in August 2023. The casino will total 114,000 sq-ft with a 48,500 sq-ft gaming floor featuring 1,000 slot machines and 12 table games. Restaurants will include a casual and an upscale venues. A hotel with convention and meeting space is planned for the future.

The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma curently owns and operates the Cimarron Casino in Perkins, OK, the Ioway Casino in Chandler, OK, and the Ioway Travel Plaza Casino in Tryon, OK.

Harrah's Oklahoma Confirms Opening Date

February 5, 2026

Harrah's Oklahoma casino is under construction on Route 66 west of Chandler, OK. In a speech Jan. 14th, Chairman Jacob Keyes of the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma confirmed the opening date of the casino during a Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon, according to a report by lcnok.com.

"If anything we kind of start getting, we've had moments where we're ahead of schedule and so we feel very confident that probably second quarter of '26 is when we'll open the facility."

Chairman Keyes said there will be three phases of construction at Harrah's Oklahoma. The casino is phase 1 and opening this Spring. A second phase will build a hotel, and a third phase will build an events/convention center. These last two phases are still in the planning stage. The hotel will tentatively be built in the northwest corner of the casino site after its design is finished and the financing is secured.

The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma currently owns and operates two other casinos: the Cimarron Casino in Perkins, OK and the href="okIowayCasino.asp">Ioway Casino in Chandler, OK. Harrah's Oklahoma is located within 10-12 miles of the Ioway Casino, which is north of Chandler near Perkins, OK.

Harrah's Oklahoma construction delayed over gaming compact

November 22, 2023

The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma's plan to build a new Harrah's hotel and casino between Oklahoma City and Tulsa is delayed due to issues with Gov. Stitt over a new gaming compact. Construction was expected to start next April and finish in mid-2026.

The Iowa Nation plan to replace their Ioway Casino with the larger Harrah's Oklahoma. Current access to the casino requires a five-mile detour. The tribe wants to eliminate this inconvenience and pay for a dedicated I-44 exit ramp that will lead directly to the casino.

The Tribe proposed the new I-44 exit ramp in 2019, but Gov. Stitt was resistant. Stitt insists on a new gaming pact as a condition for the ramp. A new compact would hike the state's revenue share from 6% to 13%. The Tribe claims it does not need a new compact because the 6% rate was established by the 2004 Model Gaming Compact and upheld by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Iowa Nation Chairman, Jacob Keyes, disapproves the Governor's proposed compact and is looking to the state legislature to resolve the stalemate.

Harrah's Oklahoma construction 'begins soon'

The Iowa Tribe announced this week that construction of its Harrah's Oklahoma Casino Resort "will begin soon". The new casino will be located on Interstate 44 northeast of Oklahoma City between Chandler and Wellston.

Harrah's Oklahoma will be built in phases over "a few years". The first phase will be the casino and restaurants. The casino will featuer 1,000 slot machines and TBA table games. The hotel and resort will be built in the second phase. Details have not been announced.

Harrah's Oklahoma will be the third casino owned by the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma. The tribe also owns Cimarron Casino in Perkins and Ioway Casino in Chandler.

Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma announces Harrah's casino partnership

The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma announced Wednesday it plans to build a Harrah's-brand casino resort off I-44 between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Tribe has partnered with Caesars Entertainment for the management, development, and branding of the new casino.

Construction is planned in stages. The first stage will complete the casino and multiple restaurants. A second phase will build a hotel. No timeline of start dates were announced.
