Sky River Casino in Elk Grove has entered the most significant phase of its development since opening in 2022. The Wilton Rancheria has officially begun construction on a major hotel resort, following the completion of early-phase upgrades that expanded gaming capacity and improved guest access. As of June 2026, the multi-year expansion program is fully underway, positioning Sky River as a future full-scale resort destination in the Sacramento region.
The Wilton Rancheria held a ceremonial groundbreaking on April 27 to launch construction of Sky River's first hotel resort. The project includes a 300-room hotel tower, a full-service spa and wellness center, a resort-style outdoor pool, and a multi-use event and entertainment center. Tribal leaders, regional officials, and community partners attended the ceremony, highlighting the cultural and economic importance of the development.
The hotel's design blends modern resort architecture with elements inspired by tribal heritage. Construction crews are now working on foundation systems, utility installation, and early vertical framing. The resort is expected to open in phases beginning in late 2027, with full completion targeted for early 2028.
Earlier this year, Sky River completed a 20,000-square-foot expansion of its gaming floor. The upgrade added 312 new slot machines, expanded table game areas, and improved guest circulation. The expansion increases total gaming capacity and prepares the property for the larger resort footprint now under construction.
A new five-level parking structure opened on March 24, providing 1,600 additional parking spaces and a redesigned valet area. The garage significantly improves traffic flow and supports the increased visitation expected once the hotel and event center open.
The hotel and resort amenities are expected to open in phases beginning in late 2027, with full completion targeted for early 2028. Additional development phases may follow based on long-term planning by the Wilton Rancheria.
The expansion is expected to generate hundreds of new jobs in hospitality, construction, and guest services. The project represents one of the largest economic development initiatives in the region and strengthens the Wilton Rancheria's long-term economic sovereignty.
Tribal leaders have emphasized that the expansion is a transformational investment for both the tribe and the Elk Grove community. The resort project reflects the Wilton Rancheria's commitment to creating a sustainable economic future and expanding opportunities for its members.
