Casino Arizona Replacement Plan November 4, 2025 - The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is planning to replace the existing Casino Arizona with a new, larger casino and a new commercial development at Loop 101 and Loop 202 ... Read more Overview
Casino Arizona is one of two casinos operated by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Its current gaming offerings include more than 1,400 slot machines along with blackjack, craps, roulette, Pai Gow Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold'em. The property also offers keno, bingo and sports betting at the CAZ Sports Bar sportsbook.
The casino's future is now connected to the Community's ambitious redevelopment plans for the nearby former Salt River Materials Group Dobson site. The Community is considering relocating Casino Arizona to the redevelopment area and replacing the existing casino with a new gaming facility.
The project remains preliminary. Although land has been identified for a potential gaming facility, the Community has said the casino's exact location and program will be determined in the future.

Future Casino Arizona Replacement
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is evaluating a new Casino Arizona that would replace the current casino property. The potential replacement is being studied in conjunction with redevelopment of the former Salt River Materials Group Dobson site.
The Community's Gaming Enterprise is focusing its casino evaluation on land east of the proposed Dobson Road alignment. The Community has also made clear that its development solicitation concerns the surrounding non-casino development rather than seeking an outside developer for the casino itself.
If the Community ultimately decides to build the replacement casino within the redevelopment site, it has stated that the gaming property would be completely owned and operated by the Community.
Importantly, the replacement casino has not reached the point where detailed specifications can be reliably presented as final. The Community's redevelopment materials say the exact location and program of a potential future casino will be determined later.
Dobson Site Redevelopment
The casino proposal is part of a much larger development opportunity.
In November 2025, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community issued a Request for Interest covering approximately 270 acres of Community-owned property along the McKellips Road corridor. The Community envisions the former Salt River Materials Group site as a major mixed-use destination.
Under the preliminary layout described in the RFI, the proposed Dobson Road extension would roughly divide the property.
The western portion includes about 147 acres available for commercial development. On the eastern side, at least 38 acres are available for commercial development, while approximately 80 acres are reserved for an adjacent gaming facility owned and operated by the Community.
The Community is also working with the Maricopa County Department of Transportation on extending Dobson Road north from Mesa across the Salt River to serve the redevelopment area and accommodate anticipated traffic.
The non-gaming development is expected to be planned in a way that can operate independently or complement a potential new casino.
Why Replace Casino Arizona?
The Community's own reporting provides an important explanation for why a replacement casino is being considered.
The Gaming Enterprise reported that the existing Casino Arizona was 26 years old when the Community discussed the redevelopment proposal in October 2025. It also reported that the casino's gaming floor was at full capacity following numerous renovations.
The Community's 2021 renegotiation of its Arizona gaming compact also created new gaming-expansion opportunities, according to Community reporting on the Dobson redevelopment.
Rather than announcing another expansion of the existing property, the Gaming Enterprise is evaluating development of an entirely new Casino Arizona on the nearby redevelopment site that would replace the current casino.

Current Status

The official Community materials reviewed for this profile do not provide final specifications or a final construction and opening schedule for a replacement Casino Arizona. The Community previously said details concerning potential future casino development would be addressed through the future RFP process.
